Tooth extraction is necessary when all procedures aimed at preserving the tooth will no longer be successful. The operation is performed under local anesthesia, which prevents unpleasant sensations for the patient, and thanks to modern methods, the recovery period is fast and does not involve severe pain.

When is tooth extraction necessary?

Here are the main indications:

  • Chronic inflammation of nearby tissues or the inability to properly care for the tooth.
  • Sinusitis and inflammatory processes in the gums.
  • The tooth protrudes from the dental arch, shifts it, affects speech, and interferes with normal chewing.
  • The patient has toothache, and the tooth cannot be restored with a crown.
  • The need for prosthetic treatment.

Our dentistry in Riga, Laurus Dent Plus, uses modern methods of wisdom tooth extraction with preliminary X-ray diagnostics. Before the operation begins, the doctor will choose anesthesia that will not cause an allergic reaction in the patient.

How is tooth extraction performed?

Before the procedure begins, the specialist examines the position of the tooth roots. If there is a disease in the root area and the patient has toothache, preliminary treatment is performed. After that, the doctor administers anesthesia, the duration of which differs depending on whether the extraction is simple or complex. The tooth is removed using a dental instrument, the wound is sutured, and a medication with an anti-inflammatory effect is placed into the socket.

After a few days, the patient must visit the dental clinic so the doctor can monitor the healing progress. In the case of complex extraction, the doctor must remove the sutures after the wound has fully healed.

Contraindications

In dentistry, there are also contraindications to tooth extraction. They are as follows:

  • Blood clotting disorders.
  • A recent heart attack.
  • The presence of a tumor in the tooth area.
  • Viral and bacterial diseases in the acute stage.

Relative contraindications include cardiovascular diseases, pregnancy, hepatitis, stomatitis, and oncological treatment. In such cases, we recommend consulting a specialist about the necessity of this operation.

Our dental clinic offers modern and painless methods of damaged tooth extraction, followed by subsequent prosthetic treatment.
